A Good Sunday

This morning we traveled from a city called Ribeirao Preto an hour or so to visit a farm. We arrived at a family farm to a great welcome from our host’s who had prepared the most elaborate morning tea that I have ever seen. Photo on the left
We then spent three hours or so going through the farms operation, they grow Sugar cane, Coffee, seed potatoes, Maize, grass pasture, grass seed production, dairy as well as one of the most impressive moonshine operations I have seen.(not that I have ever seen another)
They made their own brews which they bottle and sell. One brew made from pears had similarities to metho, although I consumed the sample with gusto so as to not dishonor our host’s.
They have 850 acres on the farm where they live; there is six families’s living on the farm.
We then had lunch with their entire family which was like a big Sunday lunch back in Aus which was greatly appreciated by us all. It was the closest thing to being around a family that we have had since we have left New Zealand. Farmers are similar in hospitality the world over.
Sr Oscar and his wife treated us like kings and tried to fatten us up over a six or so hour period.
We then traveled a hour or so back to Ribeirao Preto where we flew out bound for Rio de Janeiro landing at around 9pm.
We then had one of the craziest taxi rides I have ever had with our driver seeming to miss other cars by only fractions.
When we arrived at out Hotel I congratulated the driver on his excellent driving to which he confidently replied “I am not a driver, I am a Pilot” how true.
It is now 11pm and time for a sleep.
The Photos below are of sr Oscar and his Larikin wife who showed us great hospitality and the other is of me near one of the waterfall's on their properties.
